ShapeShifters

Recent (May 2025) stitching for Kapiti Gallery‘s “Patterns and Geometrics” exhibition didn’t seem to fit in any of my existing ranges, so I’ve started a new series that I’m calling ShapeShifters.

I began with the work on the left, and imagined being asked, “Is it bamboo?” – which wasn’t my intention although I see the resemblance, so I named it “Maybe it is”. The other works seemed to need similarly vague names, so they are “Upon a Time” (centre) and “This could be it” (right). Here are the first three in this new line:

Latest in ShapeShifters series: “Autumn Forest” and “Winter Forest” for the Juxtapositions Exhibition at Kapiti Gallery. I guess they could fit into my “Vivid Forest” range, but the colours are a bit muted – so, ShapeShifters.

Having stitched Autumn and Winter Forests, I thought I’d better complete the seasons. “Spring Forest” and “Summer Forest” (not muted at all) are below.
