Success stories

In September 2024, I designed and lead a workshop on Stitching a surprise! Creating pattern-free, process-led fibre artworks for Wellington Embroiderers’ Guild. I’d be happy to facilitate similar workshops for interested groups or individuals. Please Contact me if you’re interested.

(May 2024) My diptych, “Memories of Blue (i) and (ii)” has won a Highly Commended award in the Kāpiti Arts and Crafts Society‘s annual Art and Craft Awards.

These works are from my new “Ghost Trees” range, which numbers five artworks to date.

(July 2023) This cushion, “Sunshine on Fields of Gold”, has just been awarded the Crafts prize at the winners of Kāpiti Arts and Crafts Society‘s annual Art and Craft Awards. Judged by Penny Eames and sponsored by Forsyth Barr, the Society awards prizes in both Art and Craft sections.

Sunshine on Fields of Gold

Bright, golden yellow shades, orange, amber and off-white in an abstract design suggest fields of grain or hillsides covered in natives—Creeping Iris (Libertia peregrinans), Golden Tōtara (Podocarpus totara ‘Aurea’), Brachyglottis ‘Otari Cloud’ or Leptinella traillii—or perhaps just the southern hills, golden with red tussock (Chionochloa rubra).

Hand-stitched mainly in long stitch, with couching stitches on tapestry canvas.

May 2023

My application to enter the 2023 Kapiti Arts Trail was approved; I’ll be an artist in studio. The listing is live now, and includes my floral jewellery as well as my primary fibre artworks. You can see it here.

March – April 2023

I made the cover of March 2023 Creative Fibre magazine – and one of my entries in the national Creative Fibre Exhibition at Pataka Art & Museum in Porirua already has a red sold sticker!

February 2020 Four Seasons exhibition: “Seasons in a Forest”

My entry in Creative Fibre Wellington Area’s exhibition was purchased from Pataka Art+Gallery, Porirua. This was my first time exhibiting in a public gallery.

2019 Creative Fibre Festival, Palmerston North – first time entrant

I won a prize in the people’s choice “Pot o’ gold” challenge, for one of my first ever entries in a Creative Fibre Event: “Beginner’s Luck” (on the left). I also entered “Seaside Scrumble”, and the iPad mini cover, “Vibrant Village”. My general exhibition entry of a scrumble and freeform knitted shawl sold, too.
